Technical Assessment and Capacity-Building Support for the Aabbassiyeh Solid Waste Sorting Facility

Job Description

The overall objective of the consultancy is to strengthen Aabbassiyeh’s solid waste management system by restoring the operational capacity of the sorting facility and enhancing workforce skills, with the aim to transform the facility into an efficient, well-managed hub for recycling and waste diversion. The Consultant will assess the sorting facility’s operations, validate equipment needs, co-design a sustainable business model, and develop a comprehensive solid waste management plan.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Environmental sciences, Engineering, Health Management, or Social Sciences
• Minimum of Five (5) years of relevant experience in solid waste management consultancy
• Minimum of Three (3) years conducting SWM solutions, assessments, and delivering capacity-building
• Fluent in English and Arabic

Responsibilities

• Conduct a technical and operational assessment of the sorting facility
• Validate and document equipment needs to restore and optimize functionality
• Co-design a financially viable and sustainable business model with the municipality
• Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure effective and transparent facility management
• Strengthen institutional capacity by delivering capacity building training
• Engage in comprehensive stakeholder consultations and conduct thorough field assessments
• Conduct a comprehensive feasibility study and Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA)
• Design a Revised Operational Workflow for Aabbassiyeh Sorting Facility
• Support the municipality in updating and strengthening the administrative structure
